Tiling a Kitchen Step by Step

Getting Started

  1. Clear your workspace and counter-tops
  2. Score the sheet rock to plan where your tiles will go
  3. Place down the plastic sheeting in order to provide protection to worktops
  4. Lay out the tiles in front of the project wall to get an idea of how many you will require
  5. Using the Notched Trough, spread an even amount of mortar on the back of the tile
  6. Lay the tiles onto their allocated places, using long, thin nails to prevent slipping, and provide support
  7. Using the plastic spacers, leave a consistent space between each tile
  8. These spaces can be anything from a few millimetres to a few centimetres, depending on the style you are going for
  9. Leave the mortar to dry overnight, or if you have the time, preferably a full 24 Hours
  10. Remove all nails and spacers
  11. Apply grout generously over the tiles with a rubber grout float
  12. Whilst grouting, ensure you squeeze the material into all the nooks and crannies between the tiles
  13. After finishing a section, be sure to wash off the excess grout with a wet sponge . This will give the tiles the shining, finished look
  14. Repeat until clean
