Bathroom Remodelling Costs

What can you expect to pay to remodel your bathroom?

Sometimes your bathroom just becomes too much to deal with. However, you don't have to settle for spending lots of money on a brand new bathroom. It’s one of the costliest parts of the home, due to the nature of the fittings and equipment needed. So if you can avoid that, you should. Many people now are deciding to simply remodel their bathroom, so it has a new look, while still retaining the core of the original room.

Remodelling bathroom costs within a limited budget

There are plenty of low cost solutions out there, but like most people, you want to remodel with a certain amount of style and sophistication. On average, a brand new bathroom can cost around £3000. When you start to remodel, perhaps focusing on aspects rather than the whole thing, you can find it can be significantly less costly. However, this doesn’t mean you should settle for cheap units. That kind of defeats the object.

With the bath, you can actually find a low-cost bath quite easily, with some retailers selling low quality acrylic baths for as little as £80. Taking things up a notch or two, you can find baths for upwards of £500. They can be expensive if you are after the very best quality available.

Baths

There is an alternative though. Some good quality steel baths are available for under £500, so it is well worth seeking out some bargains when you’re looking for a new bath.

Showers

These can be very costly, but there are ways to get great units for a sensible price. Obviously, it all depends on what you want when it comes to looks, but with showers, the choice is huge.

If you’re looking for a reasonably sensible option with the shower, it’s a good idea to consider an electric shower. These are less costly to run and they don't cost the Earth. Moving up quickly from there you have power showers, which are more expensive but deliver a better shower experience.

At the top end of the shower market you have digital showers, and cabins, to name but two newer options. These are incredibly luxurious shower experiences, but they do cost a lot more, with some of the options costing well into the hundreds.

Basins

Basins are a little different because they don't have the huge variance in cost associated with showers and baths. There is still plenty of price difference as you go up the ranges though.

For a basic ceramic pedestal basin you’re looking at not too much more than £50. But take it a step further, into glass, and other more costly materials, and you can see the cost of a basin skyrocket. Again, it all depends on what you want, and what your tastes are.

Those are the main areas in bathroom renovation, the shower, basin and bath. Like most things in renovation, it all depends on the look you want. After you have decided on that, it just remains to find a solution that doesn't cost too much.
