Job - Retiling to two small bathroom floors in Cambridge. We have the tiles., Tiling Bathroom
Hi - I have two small bathroom floors (about 5x5 ft each) in a flat in central Cambridge, which need to be re-tiled. We had tile put down about four years ago, and apparently the tiler did not use the right glue or under-boards, so the grouting is breaking and tiles are coming up. We are looking for some quotes for someone to re-do this with new tile we have.

- Always try to get three quotes from tradesmen for home improvement work.
- Ask for written quotes from tradespeople.
- Ask what guarantees the tradesperson gives on their work.
- Get the tradesperson's address in case of query - A quote scribbled on paper is a bad sign.
- Be patient and compare quotes
- Try to be objective - most tradesmen will be keen to please when quoting especially in a competitive tradesperson's marketplace.
- Be clear on what you want quotes on. Vague quote specifications can lead to disputes with tradesmen and misunderstandings over what was included in your quote and what wasn't.
- Check whether tradesmen have reviews on past work. If they don't have any reviews, ask for references from past customers.
- Ask if they have any examples of their work so that you can get an idea of the quality of workmanship.
- See if they can get you trade discounts on materials for your home improvements.
