Tiling And Building Regulations - What Regulations Apply To Tiling Jobs?

There do not seem to be any regulations as such which apply to tiling as a specific home improvement job.  However, one consideration which must be remembered is that if you are carrying out tiling to your bathroom as part of an overall bathroom refurbishment it is important to remember that if you are carrying out electrical work in areas where there is water (i.e. bathrooms and kitchens primarily), you must ensure that whichever plumber carries out your bathroom refurbishment and your tiling (if they are taking responsibility for the whole bathroom job), must have part p certification which covers electrical works to bathroom and kitchen areas.

You will need to ask them to provide you with a minor works certificate to prove that they (and you) are compliant with this important building regulations legislation which was introduced some years ago now.

Be wary of any plumber or bathroom fitter who is carrying out your bathroom refurbishment (and tiling work), who does not mention this certification.  Likely, they are not qualified to carry out any electrical works (including fitting lighting to the ceiling and electric showers too).  In fact, any electrical works whatsoever, even if it is just connecting up a ceiling fan, must be certified by a part p registered plumber or part p registered electrician.

If you are looking for quality tilers to carry out your tiling work why not get a tiling quote from local recommended tilers with reviews from Top Tradespeople, the tradespeople recommendation site.
